
Players begin the game by creating a character with limited skills in the areas of ship control, trading, fighting, and various other traits. Those with a taste for blood and vengeance can become a bounty hunter, or the true freedom of a pirate's life can be enjoyed with no strings attached. Players can work for a European power to lead a squadron, or forgo the pillage and plundering altogether for merchant sailing.

The player's career is not locked into one path, however. The free expansion arrives as part of Season Three in Sea of Thieves on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on June 22.Blending role-playing elements with the strategy of ship-to-ship combat, Pirates of the Caribbean offers players a chance to set sail on the high seas as a treasure-hunting pirate. Sea of Thieves: A Pirates Life was first announced during the Xbox Bethesda Showcase E3 event last Sunday. The broadcast will take place at 7pm UK time on the Xbox Twitch channel. We’re promised a look behind the scenes of the Rare and Disney collaboration as well as a peek at the first two Tall Tales in the story.

Rare has also confirmed it’ll be holding a special broadcast this Sunday, June 20. Sirens and Ocean Crawlers will also be making sure pirate life isn’t all plain sailing There’s a glimpse of the new enemies and challenges too, including what seems to be a look at the face of the game’s infamous Kraken for the first time.

New locations across, below and beyond the Sea of Thieves are also promised during the story-focused additions. Shown off as part of the Xbox Games Showcase Extended broadcast last night, the expansion will feature five new Tall Tales and see pirates interact with characters like Davy Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow himself. A new gameplay trailer for Sea of Thieves‘ upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean crossover has been released, showcasing what budding pirates can expect in Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life next week.
